Ozoralizumab

Ozoralizumab is a monoclonal antibody designed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. It is developed by Ablynx, a subsidiary of Sanofi. Ozoralizumab is a Nanobody, a type of antibody that is significantly smaller than conventional antibodies. This allows it to penetrate tissues more effectively and bind to its target with high specificity and affinity.

Mechanism of Action

Ozoralizumab works by binding to tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), a protein that plays a key role in the inflammatory process of rheumatoid arthritis. By blocking the action of TNFα, ozoralizumab can reduce inflammation and slow the progression of the disease.

Clinical Trials

Ozoralizumab has undergone Phase II clinical trials for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The results showed that the drug was well tolerated and had a significant effect on reducing the signs and symptoms of the disease.

Potential Side Effects

As with all medications, ozoralizumab may cause side effects. These can include nausea, headache, and fatigue. More serious side effects can include infection due to the suppression of the immune system.
