Patsy's Pizzeria
Patsy's Pizzeria[edit | edit source]
Patsy's Pizzeria is a historic pizza restaurant located in New York City. It was established in 1933 by Pasquale "Patsy" Lancieri and his wife, Carmella. The pizzeria is renowned for its thin crust pizza, baked in a coal-fired oven.
History[edit | edit source]
Patsy's Pizzeria was founded in 1933 in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. The original location at 2287-91 First Avenue is still in operation today. Patsy Lancieri, the founder, was reputed to have learned his pizza-making skills from the famous Gennaro Lombardi, who is often credited with opening the first pizzeria in the United States.
Menu[edit | edit source]
The menu at Patsy's Pizzeria primarily features Neapolitan pizza, with a thin, crisp crust and fresh ingredients. The pizzeria is particularly known for its traditional cheese pizza, but also offers a variety of toppings including sausage, mushrooms, and peppers. In addition to pizza, the menu includes Italian classics like spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, and cannoli for dessert.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Patsy's Pizzeria has been recognized as one of the best pizzerias in New York City by numerous publications. It has also been featured in several films and television shows, including The Godfather and The Sopranos. The pizzeria's influence extends beyond New York, with many pizzerias across the country attempting to replicate its distinctive style of pizza.
Locations[edit | edit source]
In addition to the original East Harlem location, Patsy's Pizzeria has expanded to several other locations in New York City, including Greenwich Village, Brooklyn, and The Bronx. Each location maintains the same high standards of quality and authenticity that have made Patsy's a beloved institution.
