Pierre Gasly (born 7 February 1996) is a French racing driver currently competing in Formula One under the French flag, racing for Alpine F1 Team. He is the 2016 GP2 Series champion and the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 Series runner-up.

Early Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Pierre Gasly was born in Rouen, France. He began his karting career in 2006, at the age of 10, and quickly progressed through the ranks. By 2011, he had moved up to single-seaters, competing in the French F4 Championship where he finished third in his debut season.

Junior Formula[edit | edit source]

In 2013, Gasly joined the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, finishing as the runner-up. The following year, he competed in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, where he again finished as the runner-up. His performance earned him a place in the Red Bull Junior Team.

GP2 Series[edit | edit source]

Gasly moved to the GP2 Series in 2015, driving for DAMS. In 2016, he switched to Prema Racing and won the championship, securing his place as a promising talent in motorsport.

Formula One Career[edit | edit source]

Toro Rosso (2017-2018)[edit | edit source]

Gasly made his Formula One debut with Scuderia Toro Rosso at the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix. He continued with the team in 2018, showing consistent performance and earning a full-time seat.

Red Bull Racing (2019)[edit | edit source]

In 2019, Gasly was promoted to Red Bull Racing to partner Max Verstappen. However, after a series of underwhelming performances, he was demoted back to Toro Rosso mid-season.

Return to Toro Rosso / AlphaTauri (2019-2022)[edit | edit source]

Gasly returned to Toro Rosso, which was rebranded as Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2020. He achieved his first Formula One victory at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Alpine F1 Team (2023-Present)[edit | edit source]

In 2023, Gasly joined the Alpine F1 Team, continuing to compete at the highest level of motorsport.
