Pizza Pops
Pizza Pops[edit | edit source]
Pizza Pops are a type of stuffed pocket sandwich available in Canada that contains a variety of delicious fillings sealed inside a folded pizza dough. They are produced by Pillsbury brand of General Mills.
History[edit | edit source]
Pizza Pops were first created in the 1960s by Paul Faraci in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Faraci owned a restaurant and was looking for a unique food item to add to his menu. He came up with the idea of a sealed pizza pocket, which he named the Pizza Pop. The product was a hit, and Faraci eventually sold his recipe to Pillsbury in the 1980s.
Varieties[edit | edit source]
Pizza Pops come in several different varieties, including:
- Pepperoni and Bacon
- Three Cheese
- Deluxe
- Hawaiian
- Poutine
- Cheeseburger
Each variety contains a different combination of ingredients, but all are encased in a soft, pizza dough-like crust.
Preparation[edit | edit source]
Pizza Pops can be cooked in a conventional oven or microwave. To cook in an oven, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, place the Pizza Pop on a baking sheet, and bake for 20-25 minutes. To cook in a microwave, place the Pizza Pop on a microwave-safe plate and heat on high for 1-2 minutes.
Popularity[edit | edit source]
Pizza Pops are a popular snack in Canada, particularly among teenagers and young adults. They are often consumed as a quick meal or snack, and are a common sight in grocery stores across the country.
