The city is part of the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area and is situated in the northern part of the county along Interstate 24. - The city of Pleasant View was incorporated in 1996, although its history dates back to the early 19th century. The name "Pleasant View" was given by the town's first postmaster, whose home had a pleasant view of the surrounding countryside.
