Polymenorrhagia

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Polymenorrhea is a condition characterized by menstrual periods that occur at intervals of 21 days or less. This is in contrast to the typical menstrual cycle, which is 28 days. Women with polymenorrhea may have more frequent and/or heavier periods than normal. It can be caused by a variety of factors including hormonal imbalances, certain medical conditions and medications. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause of the condition and may include hormonal therapy, surgery, or lifestyle changes.
