Pomona College is a private liberal arts college located in Claremont, California. Founded in 1887, it is the founding member of the Claremont Colleges consortium. Pomona is known for its rigorous academics, small class sizes, and a strong emphasis on undergraduate education.

Pomona College was established in 1887 by a group of Congregationalists who sought to create a college in the tradition of New England institutions. The college was originally located in Pomona, California, but moved to Claremont in 1889. The first building on the Claremont campus was Sumner Hall, which still stands today.
