The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is a private tertiary care hospital and teaching institute located in Kalapet, Puducherry, India. Established in 2002, the college is affiliated with Pondicherry University and has been approved for full recognition by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for its MBBS degree program with 150 seats. PIMS is a unit of The Madras Medical Mission, a charitable society and hospital in Chennai.
College Administration[edit | edit source]
The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences is administered by The Madras Medical Mission. The office-bearers of The Madras Medical Mission include H.G Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros as the Honorary President, Reji Abraham as the Honorary Vice-President, M.M. Philip as the Honorary Secretary and Chairman of PIMS, and E. John Thomas as the Honorary Treasurer. The hospital and medical school are currently led by Director-Principal Dr. Renu Gboy Varghese. Other administrative officers include Dr. Johnny Asir as the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Sheela Devi Bazroy as the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Reba Kanungo as the Dean of Research, Dr. Subhasis Das as the Dean of Medical Education Unit (MEU), and Dr. Anil.J.Purty as the Registrar.
Academics and Courses[edit | edit source]
PIMS offers a range of courses in the medical field, including MBBS, MD, MS, and M Ch in plastic surgery. These courses encompass undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. The college also offers postgraduate diplomas in various fields. Additionally, PIMS has a College of Nursing that offers BSc and MSc programs in nursing.
