Primark
Primark is a multinational retail company that specializes in selling clothing, accessories, and household goods. The company was founded in 1969 in Dublin, Ireland, and has since expanded to operate in over 12 countries around the world.
History[edit | edit source]
Primark was established in June 1969 under the name Penneys by Arthur Ryan and his business partner Micaela Mitchell. The first store was located on Mary Street in Dublin. The company expanded rapidly in the following years, opening four more stores in the Greater Dublin area.
In 1973, Primark opened its first store outside of Ireland in Derby, England. The company continued to grow throughout the 1970s and 1980s, expanding its operations to other countries in Europe such as Spain, Portugal, and Germany.
Business Model[edit | edit source]
Primark operates under a fast fashion business model, offering trendy clothing at low prices. The company achieves this by maintaining tight control over its supply chain, from design and production to distribution and retail.
Primark's business model has been both praised for its affordability and criticized for its environmental and social impacts. The company has made efforts to address these criticisms by implementing sustainability initiatives and improving its labor practices.
Products and Services[edit | edit source]
Primark offers a wide range of products, including women's, men's, and children's clothing, as well as footwear, accessories, beauty products, and homeware. The company is known for its trendy designs and affordable prices, which have made it popular among budget-conscious shoppers.
