Prime Medical College was established in 2008 by the Prime Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide quality healthcare and education in Bangladesh. The college started its journey with 50 students and has since grown to accommodate more than 500 students.

The college is affiliated with the University of Rajshahi and is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. It is also listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

The campus of Prime Medical College is located in Pirzabad, on the western side of Rangpur. It includes academic and hospital buildings. The academic building houses lecture halls, a library, and laboratories. The hospital building includes various departments such as medicine, surgery, gynecology, and pediatrics.

Prime Medical College offers a five-year MBBS course, followed by a one-year internship. The course is divided into three phases: pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical. The college also offers postgraduate courses in various disciplines.

Admission to Prime Medical College is based on the admission test conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
