The origins of the Qasr El-Eyni Faculty of Medicine can be traced back to 1827 when it was established by Muhammad Ali of Egypt as a medical school to modernize the medical practices in Egypt. The school was initially located in Abu Zaabal and later moved to its current location in Qasr El-Eyni Street, Cairo, in 1837.

The faculty was named after the palace of El-Eyni, which was converted into a hospital and medical school. Over the years, it has grown into a major center for medical education and research in the region.
