Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region
Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region (RQHR) was a health region in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. It was responsible for delivering health care services to the residents of the region, which included the city of Regina and surrounding rural areas. The health region was one of the largest in Saskatchewan, both in terms of population and geographical area.
History[edit | edit source]
The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region was established in 2002 as part of a province-wide reorganization of health services. It was created by merging several smaller health districts to streamline and improve the delivery of health care services.

RQHR provided a wide range of health care services, including:
The region operated several facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and long-term care homes. Major facilities included the Regina General Hospital and the Pasqua Hospital.
Geography[edit | edit source]
The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region covered a large area in southern Saskatchewan, including the city of Regina and extending into the surrounding rural municipalities. The region was named after the Qu'Appelle Valley, a significant geographical feature in the area.
Governance[edit | edit source]
The health region was governed by a board of directors appointed by the provincial government. The board was responsible for setting policies and ensuring that the region's health services met the needs of the population.
Dissolution[edit | edit source]
In 2017, the Government of Saskatchewan announced a major restructuring of the provincial health system, which led to the dissolution of the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. Its functions were absorbed into the newly created Saskatchewan Health Authority, which now oversees all health services in the province.
