Richard B. Rothman
Richard B. Rothman is an American orthopedic surgeon and founder of the Rothman Institute, one of the country's largest orthopedic institutes. He is known for his contributions to the field of hip replacement and knee replacement surgery.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Rothman was born in the United States. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also earned his medical degree. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Career[edit | edit source]
In 1970, Rothman founded the Rothman Institute, an orthopedic care facility that has grown to become one of the largest of its kind in the United States. The institute is known for its focus on research and education in addition to patient care.
Rothman's surgical expertise lies in hip and knee replacement. He has developed several innovative surgical techniques and has contributed to the design of joint replacement prosthetics. His research has been widely published in medical journals, and he has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally.
Rothman has held several prestigious positions in the field of orthopedics, including president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Research Society. He has also served as chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Rothman has received numerous awards for his contributions to orthopedics, including the Kappa Delta Award for orthopedic research and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation's Clinical Research Award.
