Ron Zacapa Centenario is a premium rum produced in Guatemala by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala. It is named after the town of Zacapa, located in the eastern part of the country.
History[edit | edit source]
Ron Zacapa Centenario was first introduced in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of Zacapa, a town in eastern Guatemala. It is produced by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, a corporation that includes several Guatemalan liquor companies.
Production[edit | edit source]
The rum is made from sugarcane juice, which is then fermented and distilled. The rum is aged using the solera method, where younger rums are blended with older ones. The aging process takes place in barrels that previously held American whiskey, sherry, and Pedro Ximénez wines.
Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]
Ron Zacapa Centenario has received numerous awards for its quality and taste. It was awarded first place in the premium rums category at the International Rum Festival for several years.
Tasting Notes[edit | edit source]
Ron Zacapa Centenario is often described as having a sweet, smooth taste with notes of fruit, spice, and oak. It is typically enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
