Ronny Jackson

Ronny Lynn Jackson (born May 4, 1967) is an American physician, politician, and retired United States Navy rear admiral. He has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 13th congressional district since 2021. Jackson is a member of the Republican Party.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Jackson was born in Levelland, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology in 1991. He then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1995.
Military career[edit | edit source]
Jackson joined the United States Navy in 1995 and served in the United States Navy Medical Corps. He was deployed during the Iraq War and served as an emergency medicine physician. Jackson was later appointed as a physician to the White House Medical Unit during the administration of President George W. Bush. He continued to serve in this role under Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, eventually becoming the Physician to the President.
In 2018, President Trump nominated Jackson to be the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs, but Jackson withdrew his nomination amid allegations of professional misconduct.
Political career[edit | edit source]
In 2020, Jackson ran for the United States House of Representatives in Texas's 13th congressional district. He won the Republican primary and the general election, succeeding Mac Thornberry. Jackson was sworn into office on January 3, 2021.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Jackson is married to Jane Ely, and they have three children. The family resides in Amarillo, Texas.
