Rumpology
Rumpology is a pseudoscience involving the study of the lines, crevices, dimples, and folds of the buttocks to divine the individual's character and predict their future. It is sometimes referred to as "bottom reading" and is considered a form of physiognomy, which is the practice of assessing a person's character or personality from their outer appearance, especially the face.
History[edit | edit source]
Rumpology is believed to have ancient roots, with claims that it was practiced in ancient Babylon, India, Greece, and Rome. However, there is no historical evidence to support these claims. The modern practice of rumpology was popularized by Jackie Stallone, the mother of actor Sylvester Stallone, in the late 20th century.
Method[edit | edit source]
Practitioners of rumpology claim that the left and right buttocks reveal different information. The left buttock is said to represent the past, while the right buttock represents the future. The shape, texture, and folds of the buttocks are analyzed to provide insights into a person's life and personality. Some rumpologists also use palmistry techniques, applying similar principles to the lines and shapes found on the buttocks.
Criticism[edit | edit source]
Rumpology is widely regarded as a pseudoscience and has been criticized for its lack of scientific basis. Skeptics argue that there is no empirical evidence to support the claims made by rumpologists and that any perceived accuracy is likely due to the Forer effect, where individuals believe vague and general statements to be highly accurate for them personally.
Notable Practitioners[edit | edit source]
- Jackie Stallone - Often credited with popularizing rumpology in modern times.
- Ulf Buck - A blind German clairvoyant who claims to practice rumpology.
