Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
SL-164 is a benzodiazepine, which means it enhances the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at the GABAA receptor, resulting in sedative, sleep-inducing (hypnotic), anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant properties.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
SL-164 is a derivative of benzodiazepine, specifically a 3-hydroxy derivative of methyprylon. It has a molecular formula of C16H14N2O3.
History[edit | edit source]
SL-164 was first synthesized in the 1970s as part of a series of sedative and anxiolytic drugs, but it was never marketed for medical use.
