SS Hispania

SS Hispania was a steam-powered ship that was built in 1912 by the William Hamilton & Company in Glasgow, Scotland. The ship was primarily used for passenger and cargo services.

The SS Hispania was launched on 18th December 1912. The ship was initially owned by the Spanish Transatlantic Company, and was used for passenger and cargo services between Spain and Cuba.

In 1918, the ship was sold to the Trasmediterránea Company, and its route was changed to the Mediterranean.

Sinking[edit | edit source]

On 18th December 1954, the SS Hispania sank near the Isle of Mull in Scotland. The ship was on a voyage from Antwerp, Belgium to Buenos Aires, Argentina when it hit rocks and sank. All crew members were rescued by the RNLI.

Wreck[edit | edit source]

Today, the wreck of the SS Hispania is a popular site for scuba divers. It lies at a depth of approximately 30 meters and is home to a variety of marine life.
