(sal-i-sil'-ik).

Commonly called aspirin, salicylic acid is extracted from the bark of the willow tree, used as antiplatelet and anti-inflammatory medication commonly used in primary prevention of cardiovascular disease such as prevention of coronary artery disease or to treat pain or inflammation.
