Scott County is a county located in the north-central part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,750. Its county seat is Huntsville, and its largest city is Oneida.

Scott County was established in 1849 from portions of Anderson, Campbell, Fentress, and Morgan counties. The county was named after Winfield Scott, a notable U.S. Army general.
During the American Civil War, Scott County was notable for its strong Union sentiment. In 1861, the county declared itself the "Free and Independent State of Scott" in protest against Tennessee's secession from the Union. This act of defiance was largely symbolic, but it underscored the county's opposition to the Confederacy.

Scott County is situated on the Cumberland Plateau, a rugged, mountainous region characterized by its diverse flora and fauna. The county is bordered by Kentucky to the north, Campbell County to the east, Anderson County to the southeast, Morgan County to the south, and Fentress County to the west.
The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is a significant natural feature in the county, offering numerous recreational opportunities such as hiking, camping, and whitewater rafting.
