Shilpa Shetty Kundra (born 8 June 1975) is an Indian actress, businesswoman, and former model. She is primarily known for her work in Hindi cinema, but has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada language films. Shetty made her acting debut in the thriller Baazigar (1993), which was a commercial success. Her performance in the film earned her nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year.

Shilpa Shetty was born in Mangalore, Karnataka, to Tulu-speaking parents. She attended St. Anthony's Girls' High School in Chembur, Mumbai, and later attended Podar College in Matunga.

Film career[edit | edit source]

Shetty's breakthrough role came with the 2000 film Dhadkan, which was a major commercial success. She received widespread acclaim for her performance and established herself as a leading actress in the industry. She went on to star in several successful films, including Indian (2001), Rishtey (2002), Phir Milenge (2004), and Life in a... Metro (2007).

In addition to her film career, Shetty has also appeared on television. She was a contestant on the British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother 5 in 2007, which she won. She has also served as a judge on various Indian reality shows, including Nach Baliye, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, and Super Dancer.

Shetty is also a successful businesswoman. She co-owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Rajasthan Royals with her husband Raj Kundra. She has also launched her own fitness yoga DVD and has written a book on nutrition and fitness.

Shilpa Shetty married businessman Raj Kundra in 2009. The couple has two children. She is the elder sister of actress Shamita Shetty.
