Sistema Sac Actun

Sistema Sac Actun is an underwater cave system situated along the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula with passages to the north and west of the village of Tulum. Explored lengths of the underwater system are in excess of 198 miles, making it one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world.

The Sistema Sac Actun is located in the northeastern part of the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The system is formed by a series of water-filled caves which are connected to the Caribbean Sea. The system's main water source is the Caribbean Sea, and its outlets are located along the coast.

The exploration of Sistema Sac Actun began in the late 1980s by cave divers from around the world. The system's complex network of caves and underwater passages have made it a popular destination for cave diving.
