The Skylon Tower is a prominent landmark and observation tower located in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Standing at a height of 160 meters (520 feet), the tower provides a panoramic view of the Niagara Falls and the surrounding cityscape.

History[edit | edit source]

The construction of the Skylon Tower began in May 1964 and was completed in October 1965. The tower was officially opened to the public on October 6, 1965. The tower was named "Skylon" after the futuristic British exhibit at the 1951 Festival of Britain.

Design and Structure[edit | edit source]

The Skylon Tower is a reinforced, poured concrete structure with a tripod shape. The tower features three exterior elevators, which were the first of their kind in Canada. The tower's observation deck provides a 360-degree view of the Niagara Falls and the surrounding cityscape.

Attractions[edit | edit source]

The Skylon Tower is home to a number of attractions including the Revolving Dining Room, the Summit Suite Buffet, and the Indoor/Outdoor Observation Decks. The tower also houses a Family Fun Centre, which is the largest indoor entertainment centre in Niagara Falls.
