Souderton is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,618 at the 2020 census. Souderton is part of the North Penn Valley, a region that includes the boroughs of Lansdale, Hatfield, and Telford.

Souderton was originally settled by the Pennsylvania Dutch in the late 19th century. The borough was incorporated in 1887. The town was named after Souder's Lumberyard, which was a prominent business in the area.

Geography[edit | edit source]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km²), all of it land. The borough is drained by the East Branch Perkiomen Creek.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2020 census, there were 6,618 people, 2,500 households, and 1,700 families residing in the borough. The population density was 6,016.4 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the borough was predominantly White, with small percentages of African American, Asian, and other races.

Souderton has a diverse economy with a mix of small businesses, retail stores, and manufacturing. The borough is known for its historic downtown area, which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

Souderton is served by the Souderton Area School District. The district includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Souderton Area High School.

Souderton is accessible via several major roads, including Pennsylvania Route 113 and Pennsylvania Route 309. Public transportation is provided by SEPTA bus routes.
