Spices Board of India
The Spices Board of India is an Indian government regulatory and export promotion agency for Indian spices. The board is headquartered in Kochi and is responsible for the export promotion of the 52 scheduled spices and development of Cardamom (Small & Large).

The Spices Board was constituted in 1987 under the Spices Board Act 1986 (No. 10 of 1986) with the merger of the erstwhile Cardamom Board (1968) and Spices Export Promotion Council (1960). The board is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Functions[edit | edit source]
The Spices Board of India has several key functions:
- Research and development of spices.
- Registration and licensing of all spice exporters.
- Promotion of exports of Indian spices and spice products.
- Provision of financial and material support to spice growers.
- Quality control and certification of spices.
