St. Charles Parish, LA
St. Charles Parish, LA St. Charles Parish, Louisiana is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 52,549. The parish seat is Hahnville. The parish was established in 1807, making it one of the original 19 parishes of Louisiana.
Geography[edit | edit source]
St. Charles Parish is situated in the southeastern part of Louisiana, along the banks of the Mississippi River. It covers a total area of 410 square miles, of which 279 square miles is land and 131 square miles is water. The parish is part of the New Orleans–Metairie, LA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

As of the 2020 Census, the racial and ethnic composition of St. Charles Parish was:

- 6.1% Hispanic or Latino of any race

The economy of St. Charles Parish is diverse, with significant contributions from the petrochemical industry, agriculture, and fishing. The parish is home to several large industrial plants, including those operated by Valero Energy Corporation and Dow Chemical Company.

St. Charles Parish is served by the St. Charles Parish Public School System, which operates several elementary, middle, and high schools. The parish also has access to higher education institutions in nearby New Orleans.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
St. Charles Parish is traversed by several major highways, including Interstate 10, Interstate 310, and U.S. Route 90. The parish is also served by the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, located in neighboring Jefferson Parish.
