St. Cyril and Methodius University

St. Cyril and Methodius University (UKIM) is a premier higher education institution located in Skopje, North Macedonia. It is named after the two brothers and Byzantine Christian theologians, Saints Cyril and Methodius, who are credited with the creation of the Cyrillic script. Established on 19 December 1949, UKIM is the oldest and largest university in North Macedonia.

History

The foundation of St. Cyril and Methodius University marked a significant milestone in the development of higher education in North Macedonia. It was established to provide a domestic platform for higher education and research, reducing the need for students to study abroad.
