Menu[edit | edit source]

Subway's menu includes a wide variety of sandwich options, including classics like the Italian BMT and the Meatball Marinara, as well as healthier options like the Veggie Delite and the Turkey Breast. Customers can customize their sandwiches by choosing from a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, vegetables, and sauces. The restaurant also offers salads, sides, and desserts.

History[edit | edit source]

Subway was founded in Bridgeport, Connecticut, when Fred DeLuca was looking for a way to pay for his college education. With a $1,000 loan from his friend Peter Buck, he opened a sandwich shop called Pete's Super Submarines. The restaurant was a success, and they soon opened more locations and changed the name to Subway.

Global Presence[edit | edit source]

Subway has a global presence with over 40,000 locations in more than 100 countries. The chain is especially popular in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Subway has faced several controversies over the years. In 2015, the company's spokesperson Jared Fogle was arrested on charges related to child pornography and sex with minors. The incident led to a decline in sales and the end of Subway's partnership with Fogle. In 2020, a Canadian court ruled that Subway's bread did not meet the legal definition of bread due to its high sugar content.

Sustainability Efforts[edit | edit source]

Subway has made several efforts to promote sustainability, including sourcing ingredients from sustainable suppliers, reducing packaging waste, and implementing energy-efficient equipment in its restaurants.
