- Sumter County is a county located in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 32,819. The county seat is Americus. The county was created on December 26, 1831.

- Sumter County is located in the southwestern part of Georgia. It is bordered by Schley County to the north, Macon County to the northeast, Dooly County to the east, Crisp County to the southeast, Lee County to the south, Terrell County to the southwest, and Webster County to the northwest.
