Survival
Survival refers to the act of surviving, especially under adverse or unusual circumstances. It may also refer to Survival skills, which are techniques a person may use in a dangerous situation (e.g. natural disasters) to save themselves or others. These techniques are meant to provide basic necessities for human life: water, food, shelter, habitat, the ability to think straight, to signal for help, to navigate safely, to avoid unpleasant interactions with animals and plants, and cure any present injuries. Survival skills are often associated with the need to survive in a disaster situation.
Survival in different environments[edit | edit source]
Survival skills vary depending on the environment in which one finds themselves. For example, survival in a Desert environment will require different skills and knowledge compared to survival in a Jungle or Mountain environment.
Desert Survival[edit | edit source]
Surviving in a desert environment requires knowledge of how to find water, how to stay cool and avoid heat stroke, and how to navigate using the sun and stars.
Jungle Survival[edit | edit source]
Survival in a jungle environment requires knowledge of how to find food and water, how to avoid dangerous animals and insects, and how to build a shelter from the elements.
Mountain Survival[edit | edit source]
Surviving in a mountain environment requires knowledge of how to stay warm, how to navigate using landmarks, and how to signal for help in a vast, often visually obstructive landscape.
