Swedish meatballs
Swedish meatballs are a classic dish known for their rich, creamy sauce and tender meatballs. This recipe is a keto-friendly version, using almond flour instead of breadcrumbs and heavy cream instead of milk.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 egg
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- Parsley for garnish
Instructions[edit | edit source]
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, almond flour, heavy cream, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, make the sauce. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the beef broth, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the skillet with the sauce. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Garnish with parsley before serving.
