Syngenta is a global agricultural company that produces agrochemicals and seeds. As a biotechnology company, it conducts genomic research. It was formed in 2000 by the merger of Novartis Agribusiness and Zeneca Agrochemicals. As of 2014 Syngenta was the world’s largest crop chemical producer, strongest in Europe. As of 2009 it ranked third in seeds and biotechnology sales. Sales in 2015 were approximately US$13.4 billion, over half of which were in emerging markets. Based in Basel, Switzerland, Syngenta has more than 28,000 employees in over 90 countries.

Syngenta AG was formed in November 2000 by the merger of Novartis Agribusiness and Zeneca Agrochemicals. Its roots are considerably older.

Products and Services[edit | edit source]

Syngenta's products aim to enhance crop yields and food quality. They include insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and seeds.

Syngenta invests in biotechnology and genomic research to create new products and improve existing ones.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Like many companies in its industry, Syngenta has faced criticism and legal challenges related to its products' environmental and health impacts.
