From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia
Biotechnology companies are those that manufacture products utilizing biotechnology. Many pharmaceutical companies can be nominally classified in this category based not on the use of biotechnology during the drug discovery process, but on having one or more marketed products that is manufactured utilizing biotechnology. By the definition used here, companies that produce by standard manufacturing methods items essential for biotechnology work should not appear in this category.
