TMEM61

TMEM61 is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2 in humans. It is also known as Transmembrane Protein 61. The function of TMEM61 is not yet fully understood, but it is believed to play a role in cellular processes related to membrane transport and signaling.

Structure[edit | edit source]

TMEM61 consists of approximately 300 amino acids and contains multiple transmembrane domains. The exact structure and topology of the protein are still being studied.

Function[edit | edit source]

The precise function of TMEM61 is currently under investigation. Studies suggest that it may be involved in ion transport across cellular membranes and could potentially play a role in cell signaling pathways.

Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]

Mutations in the TMEM61 gene have been associated with certain neurological disorders, although further research is needed to fully understand the implications of these genetic variations.
