Etymology

The name "Whitbread" is derived from the surname of the company's founder, Samuel Whitbread. The Whitbread family has a long history in England, with the name being of Anglo-Saxon origin. History

Whitbread was founded in 1742 by Samuel Whitbread, who was originally a brewer.
