Introduction[edit | edit source]

Tchibo is a German chain of coffee retailers and cafés, also known for its weekly-changing range of other products. The latter includes clothing, household items, electronics and electrical appliances. In Germany, Tchibo's slogan is "Every week a new world."

History[edit | edit source]

Tchibo was founded in 1949 in Hamburg by Max Herz and Carl Tchilinghiryan. The name Tchibo is an abbreviation of Tchilinghiryan and Bohne (German for "bean"). Initially, Tchibo only sold coffee by mail. In the 1970s, Tchibo started a revolution in the German coffee market with its new sales strategy to sell coffee in supermarkets.

Business Model[edit | edit source]

Tchibo's business model is unique. In addition to selling coffee, each week the company introduces a new range of non-coffee products. These products can be anything from clothing to household appliances, and they change every week. This strategy has allowed Tchibo to differentiate itself from other coffee retailers and has been a key factor in its success.

Products[edit | edit source]

Tchibo offers a wide range of products. The company's main product is coffee, which it sells in a variety of blends and flavors. In addition to coffee, Tchibo also sells a rotating selection of non-coffee products. These products change every week and can include anything from clothing to household appliances.

Sustainability[edit | edit source]

Tchibo is committed to sustainability. The company sources its coffee beans from sustainable farms and is a member of the Common Code for the Coffee Community (4C), a global organization that promotes sustainable practices in the coffee industry. In addition, Tchibo also strives to reduce its environmental impact by using renewable energy sources and minimizing waste.

Conclusion[edit | edit source]

Tchibo is more than just a coffee retailer. With its unique business model and commitment to sustainability, the company has established itself as a major player in the German retail market. Whether you're looking for a cup of coffee or a new household appliance, Tchibo offers a wide range of products to meet your needs.
