Ted Drewes is a well-known frozen custard company based in St. Louis, Missouri. The company has been serving its signature frozen custard and Christmas trees to the St. Louis community since 1930.

Ted Drewes was founded by Ted Drewes Sr., a tennis player who won the Canadian Doubles championship in 1925. After his tennis career, Drewes Sr. opened his first frozen custard store in Florida in 1929. The following year, he opened another store in St. Louis, which has since become a local landmark.

Ted Drewes is famous for its frozen custard, a type of ice cream that includes eggs in its ingredients. The company offers a variety of flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. In addition to frozen custard, Ted Drewes also sells Christmas trees during the holiday season.

Locations[edit | edit source]

There are currently two Ted Drewes locations in St. Louis. The original location on South Grand Boulevard is open year-round, while the Chippewa Street location, which opened in 1941, is open from the last week of February through December 24th.

Recognition[edit | edit source]

Ted Drewes has received numerous awards and recognitions for its frozen custard. In 2017, it was named the best ice cream shop in the world by the World Ice Cream Index. The company's frozen custard has also been featured on several national television shows, including the Travel Channel's "Best Places I've Ever Been."
