Temeke Regional Referral Hospital

Temeke Regional Referral Hospital is a public hospital located in Temeke District, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It is one of the four regional referral hospitals in Dar es Salaam, the others being Amana Regional Referral Hospital, Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital, and Mloganzila Hospital.

The hospital was established in the early 1970s as a district hospital. It was later upgraded to a regional referral hospital to cater to the growing population of Temeke District and its surrounding areas.

Services[edit | edit source]

Temeke Regional Referral Hospital offers a wide range of medical services. These include general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and orthopedics. The hospital also has a radiology department and a laboratory for diagnostic services.

Infrastructure[edit | edit source]

The hospital has a bed capacity of 540, making it one of the largest hospitals in the region. It also has an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Staff[edit | edit source]

The hospital is staffed by a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory technicians. The hospital also serves as a training center for medical students from various medical schools in Tanzania.

Challenges[edit | edit source]

Like many public hospitals in Tanzania, Temeke Regional Referral Hospital faces several challenges. These include inadequate funding, shortage of medical supplies, and a high patient-to-doctor ratio.
