Thane is a city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. It is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and serves as the administrative headquarters of the Thane district. Known as the 'City of Lakes,' Thane is surrounded by scenic hills and about 35 lakes, giving it a picturesque landscape. The city's history dates back to around 2000 BCE, making it a site of historical and cultural significance.
