The Cheesecake Factory is an American restaurant company and distributor of cheesecakes based in the United States. The company operates a chain of full-service restaurants and provides a wide variety of menu items, including its signature cheesecakes.

History[edit | edit source]

The Cheesecake Factory was founded by David Overton in 1978 in Beverly Hills, California. The origins of the company trace back to the 1940s when Evelyn Overton, David's mother, began making cheesecakes in her Detroit kitchen. Her recipe became popular, and she eventually opened a small cheesecake shop. In 1972, the Overton family moved to Los Angeles, where they opened a wholesale bakery to supply local restaurants with cheesecakes.

In 1978, David Overton opened the first Cheesecake Factory restaurant in Beverly Hills, offering a menu that included not only cheesecakes but also a variety of other dishes. The restaurant's success led to the expansion of the brand across the United States.
