Thea L. James is an American emergency medicine physician, professor, and healthcare advocate. She is known for her work in addressing health disparities and social determinants of health.

Thea L. James was born and raised in the United States. She pursued her undergraduate education at Georgetown University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

Dr. James completed her residency in emergency medicine at Boston Medical Center (BMC). She joined the faculty at BMC and Boston University School of Medicine, where she has held various positions, including Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine.

Contributions to Medicine[edit | edit source]

Dr. James is a co-founder of the Violence Intervention Advocacy Program (VIAP) at Boston Medical Center. The program aims to help victims of violence recover and rebuild their lives by addressing the root causes of violence, such as poverty, lack of education, and unemployment.
