Thrifty Foods is a chain of supermarkets located in British Columbia, Canada. It was founded in 1977 by Alex Campbell and Ernie Skinner. The company is a division of the Sobeys Inc. which is a subsidiary of Empire Company Limited.

Thrifty Foods was established in 1977 in Victoria, British Columbia. The founders, Alex Campbell and Ernie Skinner, opened the first store in Fairfield, with the aim of providing quality products at affordable prices. The company expanded rapidly and by 1982, it had opened its fifth store.

In 2007, Sobeys Inc., a national grocery retailer based in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, acquired Thrifty Foods. Sobeys Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Empire Company Limited, a Canadian business corporation that is involved in food retailing, investments, and other operations.

Thrifty Foods operates 27 stores across British Columbia. The stores are located in various cities including Victoria, Nanaimo, and Vancouver. Each store offers a wide range of products including fresh produce, bakery items, meat, and seafood.
