- Throop is a borough located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre–Hazleton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The borough is named after George M. Throop, who was a Vice President of the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company.

- Throop is located at 41°26′18″N 75°36′30″W (41.4382, -75.6083). The borough has a total area of 5.0 square miles (13 km2), all of it land.

- As of the census of 2010, there were 4,088 people, 1,660 households, and 1,144 families residing in the borough. The population density was 817.6 people per square mile (315.7/km²).
