Todd County is a county located in the state of South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,612. Its county seat is Winner, although the largest city is Mission. Todd County is part of the Rosebud Indian Reservation.

Todd County was established in 1909. It was named after John Blair Smith Todd, a delegate to the United States House of Representatives from Dakota Territory.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,391 square miles (3,600 km²), of which 1,389 square miles (3,600 km²) is land and 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²) (0.1%) is water.

Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 census, there were 9,612 people, 2,500 households, and 1,900 families residing in the county. The population density was 6.9 inhabitants per square mile (2.7/km²). The racial makeup of the county was predominantly Native American, with a significant portion of the population being members of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
