Todd County is located in the southern part of the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,177. The county seat is Mission. The county was created in 1909 and organized in 1981. It is named after John Blair Smith Todd, a delegate from Dakota Territory to the United States House of Representatives and a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
