Thomas DeFalco (born June 26, 1950) is an American comic book writer and editor, well known for his work with Marvel Comics. He has contributed significantly to the development of several major Marvel Comics characters and series.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Tom DeFalco was born in Queens, New York City, New York. He developed an early interest in comics and began his career in the industry in the early 1970s.
Career[edit | edit source]
DeFalco started his career at Archie Comics, where he worked on titles such as Archie and Josie and the Pussycats. He later moved to Marvel Comics, where he became a prominent figure.
Marvel Comics[edit | edit source]
At Marvel Comics, DeFalco initially worked as a writer and later took on editorial roles. He is best known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, where he co-created characters such as Silver Sable and Black Fox. DeFalco also had a significant run on Thor, where he introduced characters like Eric Masterson.
In addition to his writing, DeFalco served as Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics from 1987 to 1994. During his tenure, he oversaw several major storylines and events, including the Infinity Gauntlet and Maximum Carnage.
Spider-Girl[edit | edit source]
One of DeFalco's most notable contributions is the creation of Spider-Girl, a series that follows the adventures of May "Mayday" Parker, the daughter of Peter Parker (Spider-Man). The series gained a dedicated fanbase and ran for over 100 issues.
