Tom Meighan
Tom Meighan (born 11 January 1981) is an English musician, best known as the former lead vocalist for the rock band Kasabian. Meighan was a founding member of the band and contributed to its success from its formation in 1997 until his departure in 2020.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Tom Meighan was born in Leicester, England. He attended Countesthorpe Community College, where he met future Kasabian members Sergio Pizzorno and Chris Edwards. The trio, along with Chris Karloff, formed the band in the late 1990s.
Career with Kasabian[edit | edit source]
Kasabian released their debut album, Kasabian, in 2004, which included hits like "Club Foot" and "L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)". The band's blend of rock and electronic music quickly gained them a following. Meighan's distinctive voice and energetic stage presence were key elements of the band's identity.
The band released several more successful albums, including Empire (2006), West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009), and Velociraptor! (2011). Kasabian's music often featured themes of rebellion and social commentary, with Meighan's vocals delivering the message with intensity and passion.
Departure from Kasabian[edit | edit source]
In July 2020, it was announced that Tom Meighan would be leaving Kasabian by mutual consent. Shortly after, it was revealed that Meighan had been convicted of assaulting his partner, which led to his departure from the band. The incident and subsequent legal proceedings were widely covered in the media.
Solo Career[edit | edit source]
Following his departure from Kasabian, Meighan announced plans to pursue a solo career. He has since released solo material and continues to work on new music projects.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Tom Meighan has been open about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse. He has spoken publicly about his efforts to overcome these challenges and his commitment to personal growth and recovery.
