Tracye McQuirter is a renowned nutritionist, public speaker, and author who has been a leading voice in the field of veganism and plant-based diet for over 30 years. She is best known for her book "By Any Greens Necessary", which has been credited with inspiring thousands of African American women to adopt a plant-based diet.

McQuirter was born and raised in Washington, D.C., where she developed an early interest in health and nutrition. She attended Amherst College, where she majored in Political Science. Her interest in veganism was sparked during her time at Amherst, after attending a lecture by Dick Gregory, a civil rights activist and vegan advocate.

After graduating from Amherst, McQuirter went on to earn a Master's degree in Public Health Nutrition from New York University. She then began her career as a public health nutritionist and vegan advocate, working to educate people about the benefits of a plant-based diet.

In 2010, McQuirter published her first book, "By Any Greens Necessary". The book, which combines practical advice with personal anecdotes, has been praised for its accessible approach to veganism and its focus on the health disparities faced by African American women.

In addition to her work as an author, McQuirter is also a sought-after public speaker. She has spoken at numerous conferences and events, including the Veggie Pride Parade in New York City and the Vegan SoulFest in Baltimore.

McQuirter is a long-time resident of Washington, D.C., where she continues to advocate for veganism and plant-based nutrition. She is also the co-founder of the Black Vegetarian Society of New York and has served on the board of the Vegetarian Society of D.C.

McQuirter's work has been recognized by numerous organizations and publications. In 2018, she was named one of the most influential vegans in the world by VegNews magazine.
