Tricholoma sulphureum is a species of mushroom in the genus Tricholoma. It is commonly known as the sulphur knight or the gas agaric. This mushroom is characterized by its bright yellow cap and stem, and it is found in coniferous forests in Europe and North America.

Tricholoma sulphureum has a convex cap that ranges from 5 to 10 centimeters in diameter. The cap is a vibrant yellow color and may have a slightly sticky texture when moist. The stem is also yellow and has a fibrous texture. The gills underneath the cap are white and closely spaced.

This species is typically found in coniferous forests, especially in areas with pine trees. It is known to grow in Europe and North America, particularly in regions with temperate climates.
Toxicity[edit | edit source]
Tricholoma sulphureum is considered toxic and should not be consumed. It contains compounds that can cause gastrointestinal distress and other symptoms if ingested.

There are several other species of Tricholoma mushrooms that resemble Tricholoma sulphureum, including Tricholoma equestre and Tricholoma flavovirens. It is important to accurately identify mushrooms before consuming them to avoid potential poisoning.
