University Cottage Club[edit | edit source]

The University Cottage Club is one of the eleven current eating clubs at Princeton University. It is located on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Washington Road in Princeton, New Jersey.

History[edit | edit source]

The University Cottage Club was founded in 1886, making it one of the oldest eating clubs at Princeton University. The club was initially located in a house on Olden Street, but moved to its current location in 1906. The building was designed by Charles Follen McKim of the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, which also designed other notable buildings such as the Boston Public Library and the Columbia University campus.

Membership[edit | edit source]

Membership to the University Cottage Club is selective, with prospective members undergoing a process known as "bicker". This involves a series of social events and interviews. The club is coeducational and open to all Princeton University students.

The University Cottage Club hosts a variety of social events throughout the academic year, including dinners, parties, and formals. It also offers a range of facilities for its members, including a library, a billiards room, and a dining hall.

Notable Alumni[edit | edit source]

Several notable Princeton University alumni have been members of the University Cottage Club, including former U.S. President Woodrow Wilson and Pulitzer Prize-winning author F. Scott Fitzgerald.
